3 hrs. on the firewall and 1 on the shop preparing it for the engine mounting.

I figure it's better to get the throttle cables (and the split pass-through that's required) done now.  With the help of my wife keeping them lined up on the front, it wasn't too hard to thread the nut.

Both sides done.

Making sure everything is labeled....

Umm, there should be 8 cup washers... But, the package only had 7.... 🤔  Hopefully they have one in CA.  Looks like I won't be able to torque the nuts since you need to do them in unison.  But, I do need to shorten the bolts from 130 to 122mm.

Fun to make sparks! 😁

I'm still mounting the engine tomorrow so I'll put in the rubber mounts.  Hard to see here, but there's a large screwdriver I'm using to carefully push them in.

Also pulled on the screwdriver like this to help get them in.  Also used a rawhide mallet to urge them in...

All in!

The ridiculously massive engine hoist I'm renting..

Kerry was over to help pick up the hoist and move the plane.  Need to make room for the engine!

In place and ready to receive the engine tomorrow.  😎

2 hrs. on the fuel pumps and starting to prep the garage for the big weekend...

Figuring out the required length of the inlet hoses.  Note that it seems my left pump (the main) is lower than the right (the manual shows the opposite, but factory photos show them lined up), but I don't think that matters.  As long as it hangs together you should be fine.

Longer inlet hoses cut and connected to the pumps.  Clamps in place....  Make sure your arrows are pointing as spec'ed in the manual:  Fitting and pump on left pointing down and fitting and pump on the right pointing up.

...hoses pushed on to the fittings.  Then I crimped and tightened all the clamps.

And a check on the firewall shows it's well clear of the bottom, so we're good!

Labeled the pumps and they're all set for pressure testing (which I'll do after the engine is mounted).

1.5 hr on the firewall and fuel pump assembly.

Thank g-d for these bits, which made short order....

...of the striped hex head screw (have I mentioned...).  Took it off in seconds.

And replaced it with a longer Philips head screw.

30mm M4 screw with a lock washer, regular washer and the stand off I used.

Replaced the other one too...

Since I had all the proper clamps I started working on the fuel pump assembly.  Have to have all the clamps in place of course before you push on the hoses...

Made sure to measure all the distances to the barbs since you want to put the clamp right behind it in the flat.

With the bypasses pushed on the hose for the fuel intake on the right is coming up short.  Trying to force it only caused the assembly to be warped and we don't want that.  I'll have to study the factory photo again to get what it should look like.  Likely need a longer intake hose.  I'll try again on Saturday.

Picked up my parts from Belmetric this morning.  Very convenient!

Order online and go pick it up!  It's in Tyngsborough, MA, just 25 minutes from my house.

I'm glad they're nuts about me! ;-)

I heard from Mike at the factory that the single ear Oetiker clamps are fine (they're easier to find) for the bypass fittings of the fuel pump assembly (he just said to confirm that the hose can't be moved once it's clamped), so I ordered a few different sizes of those and got screw-type clamps for the pump inlets that are the correct width.

I was able to get those from Belmetric which is convenient for me since it's local and I can go pick up the order tomorrow morning.

What I ordered.  The 16.2mm size should be fine, but I ordered the sizes on either side just to be safe I'll have the best fit.

Well, I'm not going to count the half hour I wasted tonight because it was 3 strikes and I was out...

First, I went to Home Depot for something home-related and I forgot to get the Dremel blades I needed to cut the engine bolts - Strike 1!.

But, I did spy this show quality Golden Retriever, so that was nice...

Then, I got the clamps for the fuel pump inlets, only to discover that they were too wide for this use...  Strike 2!.

I located where I was going to put the power wire tie-down, put in the rivnut and then screwed in the hex-head screw with the clamp, only to have it strip and is now near impossible to back out....  Have I mentioned I don't like hex-heads??...  I need to figure out how to remove it and replace it with a Philips head screw of sufficient length.  Grrr..  Strike 3, you're out!

Well, on my way to the garage door I did mark where I'm going to cut the engine bolt...  I think I'll go watch some mindless TV....

Quick hour today..  Was away for a wedding and just returned today after driving 4 hours, so not much energy to work on the plane.

Testing out my plan for the tie-down of some wires.  Standoff and M4 rivnut.

Locate the placement.

Drilled and reamed to M4 size and pulled a rivnut.  Worked well!

Located the engine mount parts...  Have to shorten the bolts as per the maintenance manual.  The plan is to mount the engine next weekend. 😁

Anybody recognize these parts?  I feel like they came with the fuel pumps, but I'm not sure.
