1 hr. doing some more soundproofing.

I've been advised to not rivet the outer seat rails at all until the wings are on, so I will follow that advice.  The inner rails and center console are OK to rivet now though.

Did a few more of the easy sections of soundproofing on both sides.

2 hrs. working on soundproofing.

I've delayed working on the parachute hole reaming and shoulder seat belt install until I get an accessory for my Tightfit tool that will allow me to put a grinding bit in it.

Test fit of this piece of soundproofing.

The backing on this material is super sticky...  So, properly positioning the larger pieces can be a bit frustrating as it instantly sticks to anything within 3 inches of it...

10 minutes later and it's properly positioned...

Smaller pieces are much easier.  Still, lots of pieces so this will take a few hours to complete.

2 hrs on front seat belt buckle install.

Put in a 36" board to sit on while I'm working inside.  I need to put some angle bracket on the front so it doesn't slide back.

Finally found some grommet material that works for the seat belt pass-through.  It's fairly stiff and I wasn't sure it would fit around the edge, but it's pliable enough that I was able to open it up and put it on.  It has some adhesive on the inside so it should stick.  I put the bottom one on then passed the belt through and then put on the top one.  If you put on both first it's a bit tough to get the end of the belt through.

An AN4 bolt goes through this hole to connect it.  It needed to be reamed out to fit the bolt.

Couple of washers and the bolt on the this side.

And it's in!  Both sides done.

I noted on Jim's blog that it's better to wait to rivet in place the top front skin until after the canopy is in place.  This way it's easier to deal with the engine mount and parachute cable bolting.

I've updated my Task List.

Anybody see any issue with this ordering?

Inspired by a post in the Sling Builders Facebook group (you're a member, right?) I decided to work on the holes for the step.  Here are the 5 holes on the bottom for the step reamed out to 4mm (it will use stainless steel rivets).

And here are the 4 holes on the side also reamed out to 4mm.

I was alerted by Jim that the belt is likely not oriented correctly on the reel for our application.  You can actually see this in relation to the manual on close inspection.  Compare the photo near the reel with the actual reel and anchor in my hand.  Flipped...  So, when I re-thread the belt onto the reel I will flip it.

Factory answered a question yesterday and sent some photos...  Where I noticed that at the factory the flange of this wing root plate is tucked inside the bottom skin, not over it like I have it...  So, I asked the factory and they said it doesn't matter since it's covered by the bottom wing skin (which I confirmed).  Whew...  That would have been a major pain to de-rivet that...
Wish that was mentioned in the manual (no drawings show that either)....

Jim Pavlick mentioned that this hole needs to fit an AN6 bolt for a parachute cable.  Another thing I wish was mentioned in the manual before I put the side skins on.

Does the bolt go through on this side too?  It's not drilled though at all and I can't see how a nut could fit on there with the channel in the way.  Hope not.

Using the only tool that can fit, my Tight Fit Drill Kit.  Since it's a drill and not a grinder this is going to take a while...  After 20+ minutes of trying, a AN6 bolt isn't close to fitting through.  Maybe I'll try my Dremel with an attachment of some sort.

While taking a break from grinding, I put edge grommet on the seat belt guides.

I was going to purchase an OAT probe to fit in my left side NACA duct, when I realized I already had one...

Anybody know what these bolts are for?  They've been on my bench near my seat belt parts for a while, but I don't recall what they're for.

With the help of other people's blogs and specific builders directly I did an extensive update to the Task List page.  The more details there, the happier I am. ;-)
